At Vermont Clean Communities, our mission is to foster collaboration, promote equity, and advocate for clean transportation solutions that benefit all communities across the state. We are dedicated to creating a sustainable future where every Vermonter has access to clean and efficient transportation options.

The Vermont Clean Communities Coalition (VTCC) was designated as a Clean Cities Coalition by the U.S. Department of Energy in 2001. Past and present stakeholders are numerous and diverse, consisting of both individuals and organizations. VTCC activities have included maintaining information and databases, writing grant proposals, creating public awareness and interacting within the national network of Clean Cities and Communities Coalitions. Originally housed at the Snelling Center for Government, Vermont Clean Communities spent 18 years as part of UVM’s Transportation Research Center. In 2025, VTCC started a new host partnership with our long-term partner, Net Zero Vermont (NZV).

The VTCCC is primarily funded through federal grants through the national Clean Cities and Communities program. Over the years VTCC has received grants from various governmental and non-governmental entities throughout the state of Vermont including the High Meadows Fund and the Public Service Department.

Each year, VTCC collects data on petroleum reduction activities of fleets across the state and compiles this information into an annual report.
